Short Tall Tales and Creature Creation at the Banff Library for Alberta Culture Days

“Short tall tales” by Entangled Puppetry

Where: Banff Public Library, 101 Bear Street, Banff, Alberta T1L 1H3

When: Saturday September 27^th, 11am

What: Join Entangled Puppetry as it brings a twist to some of your favourite tall tales and once-upon-a-times. The Cosmic Dragon lives in the library and reads all the books. The only trouble is that he knows so many stories that he starts to get a little confused and gets the adventures all mixed up. His rollicking tales will transport you to a wacky world inhabited by pig princes, musical trolls, and unlikely heroes. Delightful for kids and adult alike!

Cost: Absolutely Free!

Creature Creation: Puppet Building Workshop with Entangled Puppetry

Where: Banff Public Library, 101 Bear Street, Banff, Alberta T1L 1H3

When: Saturday September 27^th, 2pm

What: Flex your creative muscles with Entangled Puppetry as we create simple and delightful hand puppets. In this 1 ½ hour family workshop everyone will have the opportunity to build and decorate their own puppet and bring their creations to life. Find out what you can create when you let your imagination run wild! Please ensure children under 12 are accompanied by an adult.

Cost: Absolutely Free! Maximum 20 participants. Pre-registration required. Ages 5+

Build Your Own Puppet at the Salt Spring Library

On March 19 and 21 we welcomed an enthusiastic group of kids and parents to the Salt Spring Library for a free hour and a half workshop on building puppets.

 The workshop began with Tyler reading "Who's in Rabbits House?", a visually stunning picture book about a group of Masi tribes people putting on a play. It was to serve as the inspiration for the puppets we would create.

 We had settled on a deceptively simple design that used an envelope as the head of the puppet. Beyond that, the kids (and parents) could let their imaginations run wild!

Everyone got about an hour to create their puppet masterpiece. Then we sat down and introduced all the weird and wacky and beautiful creatures that we had made.

There were lots of smiles and laughs and incredible displays of creativity from everyone. A special thank you to Stephy, our volunteer, and of course, the Salt Spring Library for providing the space and materials.
